It was quite a challenge to be competitive from a tiny yard with basic antennas.
I was pleased to be able to operate all bands from 160m to 23cm.
This included a "thrown together" 1/4 wave on 6m lashed to the side of
the house in the hours before the contest started.
It was great to be part of a dedicated and enthusiastic group of amateurs making
sure VK7 was unbeatable again.
An especially big shout out goes to VK7FPCL for doing so well in his first
contest with not much on air experience, as well as to those who helped him
out with his station setup.

80m and 160m quite noisy at the NSW South Coast rural QTH.
CW activity was very limited this year compared to last year.

The co ordination must be quite telling. The bands were quite noisy for me
at various times, and some family commitments meant that the activity
for me was erratic over the time. All nice friendly activity, great tohear
good operators on the air.. well done everyone!

All new field day contest station
IC-7300 with external RX mod running 90w Tx.
TX antenna was a 51m random wire tuned by an LDG RT-600 external tuner
driving a homebuilt 9 to 1 UnUn with internal choke that uses a field of
radials. The TX Antenna was mounted to an 18m Spiderbeam mast.
18m Vertical component and the remainder sloping to the ground with
the end about 3m in the air.
RX provided by an LZ1AQ active antenna amp using four homebuilt crossed loops
on a homebuilt rotatable assembly.
Had an absolute blast with this station. |

Scout Station from 1st Kilmore Scout Hall, very little 2M or 70cm
traffic heard due to location in a bowl. Local scouts did log each of our
on 2m & 70cm when quiet.

Antenna: Non-reasonant Inverted Vee hung from a helpful nearby gumtree.
